Following NC Senate Debate, SMP Launches New Ad Highlighting Ted Budd’s Extreme Anti-Abortion Agenda

Watch “In Charge” HERE

Washington, D.C. – Following last week’s North Carolina Senate debate, Senate Majority PAC is launching an over $4 million ad campaign in state against Ted Budd.

The new spot, titled “In Charge,” features Dr. Erica Pettigrew, M.D., a local North Carolina doctor who highlights how Ted Budd would criminalize abortion and put doctors like her in jail.

“North Carolina voters deserve to know the truth about Ted Budd: he co-sponsored a national abortion ban that would throw doctors like Dr. Pettigrew in jail and supports no exceptions for rape or incest,” said Maryam Ahmed, spokesperson for Senate Majority PAC. “Ted Budd is completely out of step with North Carolina voters and simply too extreme to represent them in the Senate—that’s why they’ll reject his dangerous agenda in November.”

The ad campaign will reach voters statewide beginning Tuesday, and builds on several previous investments in North Carolina.

“In Charge” Ad Transcript:

“[Dr. Erica Pettigrew]: As a doctor, it’s my job to tell women the truth, no matter what.

Now I want to tell you the truth about Ted Budd.

He’s co-sponsored a bill to ban abortion nationwide.

He’d include no exceptions for rape or incest.

And Budd would criminalize abortion… which would put doctors like me in jail.

The truth is… women should be in charge of their own healthcare decisions…

Not politicians like Ted Budd.”
