ICYMI: Michigan Woman Calls Out Rogers’ Anti-Choice Record in New SMP Ad

Today, SMP rolled out a new ad in Michigan with testimony from a Michigan woman, calling out Mike Rogers for his record of extreme anti-abortion views. In the spot, Michigander Stephanie shares her abortion stance as well as her harrowing personal experience as she was forced to make the difficult choice to terminate her pregnancy to save her own life. In doing so, she spotlights how Rogers, a MAGA loyalist, has repeatedly supported abortion bans without exceptions including for the life of the mother.

This ad is part of SMP’s $17 million investment in Michigan’s Senate race.

SMP Spokesperson Hannah Menchhoff released the following statement:

“In Congress, Mike Rogers repeatedly supported abortion bans with no exceptions. His anti-abortion agenda isn’t just extreme, it’s dangerous to the countless Michigan women who deserve the freedom to make their own choices about their bodies – especially in life or death situations.”

“We were so thrilled. We were pregnant with our second child, but my uterus ruptured, and I was losing so much blood. And I needed an abortion to save my life.

Mike Rogers said he supports “all restrictions on abortion,” and he backed four bills to ban abortion with no exceptions, even to save a woman’s life.

My husband would have been a widower, and my son would have been motherless. And that should not be up to Mike Rogers.”
