ICYMI: Arizona U.S. Senate Debate Recap – Lake Fumbles with 'UVF,' Dodges Election Certification Questions and More
In last night’s Arizona Senate debate, Rep. Ruben Gallego set the stage from the outset for what to expect from his opponent, saying “we’re going to see and talk to somebody who has really failed the basic test of honesty. She has lied to Arizonans about the 2022 election. She has said that she still is the rightful governor of Arizona.”
He was right.
MAGA extremist Kari Lake’s attempt to masquerade as a moderate and her history of dishonesty toward Arizonans (even claiming at one point “I’ve never lied”) caught up with her.
Lake dodged questions and lied about key issues such as abortion, the economy, and Social Security.
Lake also skirted whether she would certify the 2024 election, even as Rep. Gallego pushed her, “Now, I give you one minute. Will you finally tell the people of Arizona: Did you win or lose that election?”
And let us not limit ourselves to the questions she wouldn’t. The things she did say demonstrated just how unprepared and unserious Lake is, such as her repeated (and bizarre) claims to support “UVF” protections.
In contrast, Rep. Gallego clearly outlined his work to protect abortion rights, lower prescription drug costs, and protect Social Security.
Rep. Gallego emphasized the contrast between himself and Lake, stating, “This is the difference between me and Kari Lake. I actually try to work on things.”
