Senate Majority PAC Commits $31 Million to Flip North Carolina Senate Seat

Today, Senate Majority PAC announced an initial $31.4 million television reservation in North Carolina to support Roy Cooper against Republican candidate Michael Whatley.

“Michael Whatley has made it clear that his priority as senator will be acting as a rubber-stamp for Donald Trump’s costly agenda. Nowhere is that truer than when he failed to secure real relief for North Carolinians after Helene or stand up for families being crushed by higher prices,” said Senate Majority PAC Spokesperson Lauren French. “Roy Cooper is putting North Carolina first – above special interests and partisan politics to ensure every North Carolinian has a Senator fighting for them.”

The announcement of this investment comes a crucial six months before the midterm election in November, ensuring voters will hear directly about Whatley’s tenure as North Carolina’s Trump-appointed “recovery czar”. Under Whatley’s guidance, North Carolina families were left without the funding necessary to rebuild their state and their homes after the devastating Hurricane Helene. The reservations will be backed by a significant digital investment.

In addition to North Carolina, SMP has also announced a $46.4 million television investment in Ohio and a $33.4 million investment in Maine – three states where Democrats have the opportunity to flip control of the Senate seats.

The Senate race in North Carolina has become increasingly competitive, with polls finding Cooper holding a steady edge over Whatley.
