New WinSenate Ad Blasts Ashley Hinson for Cashing Campaign Checks from Iowa's Cancer-Causing Polluters

WinSenate has launched a $2.5 million ad campaign exposing Ashley Hinson for taking hundreds of thousands of dollars in campaign donations from the corporations at the center of Iowa’s ongoing cancer crisis.

Iowa has the second-highest cancer rates nationwide and is one of only three states where cancer rates continue to rise. Despite this ongoing health threat, Hinson has taken $300,000 from corporations with links to water pollution and cancer-causing chemicals. She even accepted $5,000 in donations from PACs associated with Corteva and Bayer, whose products have been linked in studies to Iowa’s rising cancer rates. After taking the campaign contributions, Hinson also repeatedly voted to loosen clean water restrictions, including five separate votes to limit federal oversight of Iowa’s drinking water supply. These votes would make it harder for the government to stop PFAS chemicals, which have also been linked to Iowa’s cancer crisis, from being dumped into Iowa’s water supply.

“Ashley Hinson voted to roll back clean water protections, while taking $300,000 from corporations that polluted our water,” Tara Guion, an Iowa mom of 3, says in the 30-second ad. “As a mom, I do not understand how she voted for that. When you vote their way, and you take their money, you show us the kind of person you are, and Ashley Hinson’s not for Iowa.”
