New WinSenate Ad Hits Jon Husted For Putting Ohioans Last in FirstEnergy Scandal

Today, WinSenate released a new television ad spotlighting Jon Husted’s involvement in the largest bribery scandal in Ohio’s history, a case that caused utility and energy rates to skyrocket for families in the state.

Husted secured a $1 billion taxpayer-funded bailout for FirstEnergy, forcing Ohioans to pay for the company’s failing utility plants. FirstEnergy then donated $1 million to a committee helping Husted’s campaign. Years later, Ohioans are still facing elevated energy costs, while also facing higher prices on gas and groceries.

“Jon Husted said he’d look out for us, but he’s only looked out for FirstEnergy,” Erin, an Ohio mother and veteran, says in the 30-second ad. “They poured [$1,000,000] in to support his campaign. He got them a massive bailout. Who paid for it? We did, with higher electric bills at the worst possible time.”

The ad will air on television channels throughout the state, as well as on digital streaming platforms.
