Jon Husted Once Again Refuses to End Trump’s Unlawful, Costly War

Jon Husted voted today for the 14th time to allow Donald Trump to continue his illegal war in Iran, once again leaving Ohioans to pay the price at the pump.

Husted has spent the week saying the war needs to end “as quickly as possible so that we can lower gas prices.” But when he had the chance to actually end it, he refused. His office confirmed ahead of the vote that he would not support the resolution, and Husted once again voted to let Trump’s unlawful war continue.

“Jon Husted wants credit for saying the war should end without lifting a finger to actually end it,” said Senate Majority PAC press secretary Christyna Thompson. “Today made it clear that under no circumstance will he break with the president – even when his own Republican colleagues say enough is enough. There’s no gas price high enough and no Ohio family hurting enough to make Husted finally stand up to Donald Trump.”

The Iran War has already cost taxpayers $37.5 billion, and now Ohio drivers are paying $4.51 a gallon for gas, up from just $3.03 a year ago. Before today, Husted had voted 13 times to back the war in Iran and has voted against every war powers resolution to reach the Senate floor. That includes the June resolution that passed the Senate 50-48, which Husted voted against.
