New Ad: Cindy Hyde-Smith Does Nothing for Mississippi. Scott Colom’s Ready to Fight Back.

Senate Majority PAC announced today a $1.2 million ad campaign in Mississippi framing Cindy Hyde-Smith as a “do nothing” senator who voted to kick people off Medicaid while pocketing thousands from special interests.

The ad contrasts Scott Colom’s record as a district attorney who worked to keep families safe with the record of Hyde-Smith, who made health care more expensive for 160,000 Mississippians when she rubber-stamped the largest Medicaid cut in history.

“Scott Colom: Devoted to family and Christian faith. And he’ll fight corruption – in both parties – that drives up costs…” a narrator says. “A decade in power, [Cindy] Hyde-Smith hasn’t passed one piece of legislation, but she did vote to kick people off Medicaid and pocketed thousands from special interests. Cindy Hyde-Smith: A do-nothing we can’t afford.”

The campaign will run on TV stations statewide through Election Day, alongside an additional digital program. This is SMP’s first ad in Mississippi for this cycle.
