Congress Passes Joni Ernst-Backed Legislation that Screws Iowa

Senate Majority PAC released the following after Congress passed the Republican tax scam legislation that will significantly harm Iowan families by ripping away their health care and raising costs:

“Joni Ernst screwed over Iowan families, many of whom will now lose access to their health care coverage and pay more on everyday costs like utility bills and nutritious meals. This is not what standing with Iowa looks like, and Joni Ernst will be forced to answer why she put the wants of billionaires over the needs of working families – we will make sure of that,” said Senate Majority PAC spokesperson Lauren French. “Not only did Sen. Ernst vote to gut IA Health Link, but she couldn’t even be bothered to support the more than 8,000 veterans in Iowa who rely on nutrition assistance to feed their families.”

The Republican-passed legislation is expected to have a significant impact on Iowa, where more than 600,000 people rely on IA Health Link to receive their health care. Nationally, an estimated 17 million people will lose access to their health care as Republicans fund tax breaks for billionaires.

Donald Trump’s disastrous legislation is already being featured in television and digital ads nationwide from groups like Unrig Our Economy, Climate Power, LCV, and Protect Our Jobs, and Majority Forward in states including Alaska, North Carolina, Maine, and Iowa.
