Congress Passes Susan Collins-Enabled Legislation that Screws Maine

Senate Majority PAC released the following after Congress passed the Republican tax scam legislation that will significantly harm Maine families by ripping away their health care and raising costs:

“Susan Collins screwed over Maine families, many of whom will now lose access to their health care coverage and pay more on everyday costs like utility bills and nutritious meals. This is not what standing with Maine looks like, and Susan Collins will be forced to answer why she enabled this legislation to go to the floor and put the wants of billionaires over the needs of working families – we will make sure of that,” said Senate Majority PAC spokesperson Lauren French. “Sen. Collins can pretend to be concerned and worried until she’s blue in the face, but the reality is she will own the consequences of this legislation.”

The Republican-passed legislation is expected to have a significant impact on Maine, where more than 400,000 people rely on MaineCare to receive their health care. Nationally, an estimated 17 million people will lose access to their health care to fund tax breaks for billionaires.

Donald Trump’s disastrous legislation is already being featured in television and digital ads nationwide from groups like Unrig Our Economy, Climate Power, LCV, and Protect Our Jobs, and Majority Forward in states including Alaska, North Carolina, Maine, and Iowa.
