Hinson Votes to Fund ICE While Iowa Families and Farmers Face Record Costs

Today, Ashley Hinson voted to give ICE billions of dollars with no accountability requirements, putting Donald Trump’s priorities ahead of his constituents.

Hinson’s vote comes as the cost-of-living crisis is increasingly making life unaffordable. Medicaid cuts have left many Iowans without coverage, while gas prices have climbed to record highs driven by the Iran War. Iowa farmers – the backbone of the state’s economy – are being squeezed by surging fertilizer costs tied to the same conflict. Iowans rank cost of living as their top concern.

“Ashley Hinson had a choice – stand with Iowa families paying record gas prices and losing health coverage, or hand ICE a blank check with no strings attached,” said Senate Majority PAC Press Secretary Christyna Thompson. “Every vote she casts costs her constituents more. Iowans will remember it in November.”

Gallup data shows affordability tops Americans’ financial concerns, yet House Republicans are advancing an unauthorized Iran War, a taxpayer-funded ballroom, and ICE funding with no reform requirements.
