ICYMI: Hovde ‘Confused’ About ACA’s Benefits for Wisconsinites
In an interview with News 3 Now, California banker Eric Hovde was asked about his desire to repeal the Affordable Care Act (ACA) and, specifically, about his support for eliminating the provision that allows young adults to stay on their parents’ insurance until age 26.
Hovde’s out of touch response? “I’m confused why it’s a big benefit.” But it doesn’t stop there, Hovde also went on to claim that the cost of health care for young people “is just not that significant.”
Hovde’s extreme agenda isn’t new; he’s supported repealing the ACA since 2012 – revealing his utter ignorance to the positive impact of the ACA. But do you know who does understand how the ACA has benefitted Wisconsinites? Senator Tammy Baldwin who literally wrote the amendment that allows young people stay on their parents’ insurance.
“Hovde simultaneously reminded voters that he doesn’t understand the importance of quality, affordable health care for young people AND that he wants to strip access to health insurance from 266,000 Wisconsinites,” said SMP spokesperson Von Walker. “That’s why voters will re-elect Senator Baldwin. They know she has consistently fought for Wisconsinites in the Senate and their access to health care.”
