MICHIGAN ADVANCE: Mike Rogers is Wrong; Michigan Voters Who Support Lowering Prescription Drug Costs Are Not on a ‘Sugar High’

Recently, MAGA extremist Mike Rogers said he opposed lowering prescription drug costs at a town hall meeting, labeling Michigan voters as being caught up in “sugar high politics.” This controversial comment follows Mike Rogers’ longstanding record of harming Michigan voters, profiting from Big Pharma as they gouged Michigan families on life-saving prescription drugs and calling himself a “champion” for the pharmaceutical industry.

Yesterday, Michigan Advance debunked his “sugar high politics” claim by citing data that shows prescription drug prices have dropped by 38% to 79% due to price negotiations. This price drop is not just temporary relief; it represents a sustainable shift in how Michigan seniors and families can access life-saving medication.

The article also referenced a PolitiFact analysis that slammed one of Rogers’ statements on Medicare as blatantly misleading.

“Mike Rogers has no clue about Michiganders, as his opposition to lowering prescription drug costs make clear,” said SMP spokesperson Von Walker. “After calling himself a ‘champion’ for big Pharma, maybe it’s time for Rogers to come down from his own ‘sugar high’ and see that Michiganders have no interest in electing someone who is only in this race to line his own pockets.”
