NEW AP Reports on Bernie Moreno’s Corrupt Family Connections
Bernie Moreno: “There Always Needs To Be a Moreno In Politics”
A new bombshell report from AP detailed the corrupt and, in some cases, alleged criminal dealings that Bernie Moreno’s close family members have engaged in, even as Moreno has embraced them throughout his Ohio Senate campaign.
Despite the rags to riches tale he’s manufactured on the campaign trail, the reality is that Moreno comes from one of the most well-connected families in Colombia. But this long-established family also has engaged in shady behavior for their financial benefit.
In one incident, Moreno’s brother Luis Alberto used his position as president of the publicly funded Inter-American Development Bank to direct loans to a bank that went on to fund several projects for Moreno’s other brother’s construction company. And that’s not even to mention how the construction company has been propped up by a family equity firm fund called Yellowstone Capital Partners that Bernie Moreno is also invested in.
In addition, one of Bernie Moreno’s family cousins, Luis Andrade, who has donated to Bernie Moreno’s campaign, faced criminal charges for his role in a scandal that included $788 million in bribes of officials across Latin America.
And that’s just the start of his family’s deeply intertwined and corrupt behavior.
This is no surprise for the candidate sued for overtime wage theft by his employees and then caught shredding documents in order to hide the evidence. Bernie Moreno has also been subject to lawsuits for race, gender, and age discrimination.
