New Ad: Susan Collins Caused Thousands of Maine Mothers and Children to Suffer Due to Medicaid Cuts

WinSenate released a television and digital ad today hitting Susan Collins for voting for Donald Trump’s Medicaid cuts, destroying funding for labor and delivery units across the state.

Mothers in Maine have struggled to access safe, affordable labor and delivery care, as Maine copes with the closure of 11 birthing centers, with another slated to close at the end of this year. These closures are a direct result of Collins helping Trump pass the largest cut to Medicaid in its history, endangering the lives of thousands of mothers and babies.

“Trump’s Medicaid cuts are forcing labor and delivery units to close in Maine. When there’s an emergency, mothers will have to drive an hour or more to the hospital, jeopardizing the life of the baby and the mother,” Dr. Millard, a doctor from Belfast, says in the 30-second ad. “Susan Collins was the deciding vote to advance Trump’s Medicaid cuts, so they can give billionaires a tax break. Every time it matters, Susan Collins caves to Donald Trump.”

The $2 million ad campaign will run on television stations across Maine, in addition to digital and streaming platforms.
