New Ad: The FBI Was Investigating Susan Collins. Then Trump Shut It Down.
Today, WinSenate released “Undeniable,” a new ad featuring Erin, who voted for Susan Collins three times and won’t do it again after learning about how Collins used her position to benefit her political campaigns.
The FBI was investigating whether Collins traded federal contracts for campaign cash. The CEO of Navatek, a defense contractor, pleaded guilty to funneling illegal donations to Collins’ campaign and then told the FBI that Collins had committed to getting his company $32 million in Navy contracts. Collins’ office went on to press the Navy to award contracts to Navatek. But when Trump took office, his administration gutted the FBI’s public corruption unit and the investigation died.
“Donald Trump’s administration shut down the [FBI] investigation [into Susan Collins],” Erin says in the ad. “And now Susan Collins votes with Trump every time it matters. The Medicaid cuts, the war in Iran, Susan Collins is enriching herself while voting with Trump to raise our costs.”
Collins claims she works for Maine, but Mainers are paying the price for her loyalty to Trump. She has voted with Trump 96% of the time, cast a key vote to advance Trump’s sweeping Medicaid cuts, and voted to let Trump’s war in Iran keep going as gas prices climbed.
“Undeniable” will air on broadcast, digital, and streaming across Maine.
