Rick Scott On Abortion: It “Kills Human Children” 

The Florida Supreme Court announced today their decision to give Floridians a chance to vote to enshrine the right for women to have an abortion. This referendum comes as Florida Republican politicians have stripped away women’s reproductive freedoms, passing a 15-week abortion ban in 2022 and a 6-week ban in 2023.

With abortion clearly on the Florida ballot this November, Rick Scott must answer for his long history of supporting these extreme anti-abortion policies and going even further to back a national abortion ban.

Here’s what you need to know about Scott’s dangerous record on abortion:

1. Scott has said if he were still governor, he would sign into law Florida’s arcane and cruel six-week abortion ban.
2. Scott praised the U.S. Supreme Court overturning Roe v Wade, saying abortion “is abhorrent and has no place in our society.”
3. Scott previously co-sponsored Senator Lindsey Graham’s national abortion ban that criminalized doctors and required victims of rape and incest to seek counseling before having an abortion if they could not produce a police report.
4. Scott signed onto an amicus brief in support of blocking the sale of mifepristone, a medical abortion pill.
5. In his current 12-point plan to “Rescue America,” Scott says, “abortion kills human children. To deny that is to deny science.”
