SMP Launches New Ad Against Adam Laxalt: “Power”

Washington, D.C. – Today, Senate Majority PAC is launching a new ad campaign in the Nevada Senate race against Adam Laxalt, titled “Power.”

The new spot highlights how electing Laxalt would give Senate Republicans the power to pass a nationwide abortion ban that would overturn Nevada’s state-level abortion protections. According to the Reno Gazette Journal, “a federal ban would supersede Nevada’s protections.”

Laxalt has a long record of opposing a woman’s right to make her own health care decisions: he called the overturning of Roe v. Wade a “historic victory”; said it’s “sad” that Nevada protects abortion rights and that he’ll work to make Nevada a pro-life state; and as Attorney General, signed onto multiple legal efforts to restrict abortion access.

“Adam Laxalt has spent his entire career pushing to roll back a woman’s right to make her own health care decisions and he even supports a statewide abortion ban that is stricter than the one currently being proposed by Senate Republicans—there is no question that Laxalt would be an automatic vote for a nationwide abortion ban too,” said Veronica Yoo, spokesperson for Senate Majority PAC. “Time and again, Laxalt has shown Nevadans that a vote for him is a vote to turn back the clock on abortion access across the Silver State.”

The ad will reach Nevada voters statewide beginning Saturday as part of Senate Majority PAC’s previously announced $27 million television reservation in Nevada.

“Power” Ad Transcript:

“For now, abortion is legal in Nevada.

But Adam Laxalt wants to change that.

He called Roe v. Wade  ‘a joke.’

[Laxalt]: ‘Roe v. Wade was always a joke.’

Electing Adam Laxalt means giving Mitch McConnell the power to pass a nationwide ban on abortion that would overturn Nevada’s abortion protections.

Adam Laxalt has shown us who he is on abortion.

We should believe him.”
