SMP Launches New Ad Slamming Carpetbagger Mehmet Oz for Calling Everywhere But Pennsylvania ‘Home’

“Mehmet Oz bought a house in Pennsylvania eight months ago. John Fetterman’s got Pennsylvania in his blood.” 

Washington, D.C. – Today, Senate Majority PAC is launching its first ad campaign in the 2022 Pennsylvania Senate race, slamming Mehmet Oz for being a carpetbagger with no real connection to the Commonwealth. The new spot, titled “Home,” contrasts Oz’s lavish celebrity lifestyle with John Fetterman’s long record of delivering for Pennsylvania’s working families.

According to Oz’s personal financial disclosures, he and his wife own multiple expensive properties in New Jersey, Florida, New York, and Turkey—and only bought a house in Pennsylvania eight months ago in December 2021. In contrast, Fetterman has lived in Pennsylvania his whole life and only has one home—in Braddock, where he served as Mayor.

“Mehmet Oz is a carpetbagging phony who isn’t trusted by Pennsylvanians because he’s not from Pennsylvania and it shows—when Oz isn’t vacationing overseas or kissing his Hollywood Walk of Fame star, he’s selling out working people to benefit himself,” said Senate Majority PAC spokesperson Veronica Yoo. “Our ad makes the contrast clear: John Fetterman is a common man from the Commonwealth, Mehmet Oz is a self-serving celebrity fraud whose latest scam is trying to convince Pennsylvanians that he’s one of them. But Pennsylvania voters won’t be fooled—they know Oz has no place representing them in the Senate and in November, they’ll send him back to his New Jersey mansion where he belongs.”

The ad will reach voters in the Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, Harrisburg, and Wilkes-Barre markets beginning Tuesday, and is the first spot to air as part of SMP’s nearly $32 million ad reservation in Pennsylvania.
