SMP Statement on Representative Ruben Gallego’s Victory in Arizona

Following Representative Ruben Gallego’s historic victory in Arizona’s U.S. Senate race, Senate Majority PAC President JB Poersch issued the following statement:

“Congratulations to Rep. Ruben Gallego on his election to the U.S. Senate, where he will make history as Arizona’s first Latino Senator. Gallego is someone who embodies the American dream. The son of an immigrant single-mother, Gallego worked his way through high school to support his family, going on to become an Iraq War veteran and dedicated public servant.

“With this victory, Democrats have won our fourth consecutive Senate race in Arizona, proof that Arizona voters support leaders who believe in hard work, sacrifice, and service. And that’s especially true when the alternative is an election denier determined to override the will of the people and an extremist who wanted to put a stop to all abortions. National GOP efforts to moderate the image of Gallego’s opponent, and adopt her as one of their own, failed completely because Arizonans know a con when they see one. That’s why Senator-elect Gallego’s election is so important – he understands and respects the people of Arizona and will serve the state with distinction.”
