Susan Collins Won’t Stop Voting to Support Trump's Illegal War
Today, Republican Sen. Susan Collins voted against the Iran War Powers Resolution again for the fifth time, ensuring President Trump can continue his illegal conflict in Iran without congressional approval. Since the war started in February, Mainers have had to bear the cost, with gas prices rising and everyday goods becoming too expensive for families in the state. Despite this, Collins has steadfastly supported Trump’s illegal war, even with the vast majority of Americans expressing growing disapproval against it.
“Susan has voted five times in a row to put Donald Trump first and Mainers last. Instead of doing her job, Collins reversed course once again, doubling down on support for a war nobody wants,” said Senate Majority PAC Press Secretary Christyna Thompson. “Mainers are growing tired of Collins’ constant concern and lack of courage. That’s why voters are ready to send her into retirement this November.”
Collins has consistently thrown her support behind Trump’s harmful agenda. Last June, she voted to pass Trump’s One Big, Beautiful Bill, doling out the largest cuts to Medicaid and health funding ever, all to deliver tax breaks to the wealthiest Americans. Even with consistent data showing the bill’s harms to rural and safety net healthcare, Collins stood with Trump and forced Mainers to pay the price.
