Washington Post on Hogan: ‘We’re Not Convinced’
Last week, the Washington Post endorsed Angela Alsobrooks for U.S. Senate in Maryland, and in doing so, shredded Larry Hogan’s campaign, labeling it as directionless and missing ‘clear policy priorities.’ The endorsement explained just how wrong Hogan is to represent Maryland in the Senate, while simultaneously praising Angela Alsobrooks as a thoughtful, effective leader. As the Editorial put it, “This is a daughter of middle-class parents who has paid her dues in public service and listened to her constituents and knows Maryland from the grass roots up.”
One thing that remains clear about Hogan is that his cozy relationship with D.C. swamp creature Mitch McConnell shows exactly where his loyalties lie. From the very beginning, Hogan was McConnell’s favorite recruit, and even received the endorsement of Donald Trump. After electing President Biden by 32 points, Marylanders have a right to worry about how dangerous a Republican Senate Majority with Hogan in office could be.
“Hogan won’t be a voice for the people—he’ll stand in lockstep with Senate Republicans, pushing their extreme agenda while pretending to be a moderate,” said SMP Spokesperson Von Walker. “Meanwhile, Angela Alsobrooks is offering Maryland a clear vision and a commitment to fight for the issues that truly matter. Alsobrooks isn’t distracted by political games or personal ambition. She’s focused on keeping the Democratic majority in the Senate, safeguarding Marylanders’ rights, and ensuring MAGA extremists like Hogan never have the chance to drag the state backward.”
While Hogan scrambles to hide his record, Alsobrooks’ clarity, dedication, and real leadership shine through. Hogan is a risk Maryland can’t afford, and the Washington Post made that clear. Come November, voters will reject his empty promises and choose someone who will actually stand up for them—not just for a headline.
