WinSenate Dismantles Susan Collins' "Independent" Record in New Ad Campaign
Today, WinSenate released a $4 million ad campaign countering Susan Collins’ record of being an “independent” voice for Maine, focusing on the critical health care, Iran War, and Supreme Court nomination votes where Collins sided with Donald Trump against the interests of Maine.
Collins has falsely claimed a record of bipartisanship and willingness to break with the GOP and Trump, despite a long-established congressional record showing her as a reliable vote for Trump and Washington Republicans. Notably, Collins voted to continue the war in Iran, allowing gas and fuel prices to rise to unaffordable levels for Mainers, and confirmed Supreme Court Justices Brett Kavanaugh and Neil Gorsuch, who both voted to overturn the Dobbs decision and end reproductive care protections nationwide. Collins also helped push through the Senate’s largest cut in Medicaid history, which subsequently drove up premiums in Maine by an average of $886, leading to a 32% drop in health insurance enrollment.
Despite her claims, Collins has voted more reliably with Trump – nearly 90 percent of the time – than any other president she’s served alongside.
“Susan Collins caves to Donald Trump. The Supreme Court justices who overturned Roe v. Wade, the Iran War, doubling health insurance premiums, the Medicaid cuts…every single time,” a group of Mainers says in the 30-second ad. “When it matters, Susan Collins sides with Trump, and she’s hurting Maine.”
The ad will air on television throughout the state, alongside digital streaming platforms.
